Just over a year ago Rose Bruford College launched its Jubilee celebrations and College Alumni established their own association – BRUFORD CONNECTS.  At the same time we began gathering material for a history of the College.  Since then we have discovered many interesting things and received some fascinating information from Alumni  – ranging from recent experiences right back to earliest memories of Rose Bruford herself.

Writing a history of the College is a long-term project, so, as we continue to gather documents and recollections, the College now aims to launch an illustrated reminiscence book, Rose Bruford College – The First 60 Years.

This jubilee book celebrates an important anniversary, but also marks a watershed moment in the lives of students.  Young people entering UK higher education and training today face unprecedented fees and maintenance costs that are among the highest in the world.  While we are sharing and celebrating our memories of the past we will also recall how privileged we were by comparison with the students of today and tomorrow.  The book is also, therefore, a part of the College’s wider ‘Funding the Future’ initiative to create an endowment to support students in paying for the education that most of us took for granted.  (Already since August the Principal has raised over £250,000 towards this student fund.)

We are inviting Alumni to be part of this initiative.  We hope that you will contribute to the content of the book with your memories and photos, and – at the same time – subscribe to receive a copy and to make a donation to the fund.  For 60 years we are proposing a symbolic £60 as a combined donation to the fund and subscription for the book.  (60% of each £60 will go directly towards funding future students.)

We hope that Alumni will want to contribute to this cause.
