Part-Time Theatre Arts (PTTA) < back

One evening per week - 7pm-9.30pm, 1 Year

The Part Time Theatre Arts (PTTA) programme will introduce you to the key theatrical movements and texts alongside the practical application of this context to acting and performance.

PTTA is designed for those who wish to develop their understanding of theatre history and to explore this practically through performance. The programme is particularly relevant to anyone if you are interested in the history of theatre and performance but also to those who wish to pursue it professionally or at a higher educational level.

Subjects covered include:

Greek Theatre and Performance
Shakespeare and Renaissance Theatre
Naturalism and the work of Stanislavski
Brecht and the Epic
Contemporary British Playwrights

The one year programme comprises of three terms, each lasting for 13 weeks when you will  be expected to attend one evening a week from 7:00 – 9:30.  The terms would work to a timetable where each contextual week is followed by a performance week so that students get the opportunity to apply the history to practice.

If students show strong commitment and dedication to the course, they may be invited back for an optional fourth term where they will get the opportunity to work on a show that will be performed for an audience at the end of the term.  This invitation will be offered at the discretion of the Programme Supervisor.

Classes are taught by experienced professional tutors with visits from outside directors and specialist practitioners.  Students will be expected to undertake a certain amount of reading each term but will have full access to the college library.

A Certificate of Attendance is awarded on satisfactory completion of the course.

The course fee is only £435 per term.
