Young People’s Theatre Workshop (YPTW) at Rose Bruford College is the best place for young people to learn about theatre, performance and to make new friends.
Through skills, classes and drama projects students of all ages gain and acquire the skills and understandings of theatre and performance.

Evening workshops

Working with a Musical Director, learn songs from popular West End shows and work towards performing a popular musical in one of the college‘s theatres at the end of the course.

Engaging, innovative, fun and interesting theatre is explored in this class. You will play with the boundaries of performance and by doing so have a great time.
Act 1: 5 – 10 year olds

An introduction to drama in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Activities include theatre games, acting popular stories and devising using musical stimulus. All evening classes perform in a presentation at the end of the summer term in one of the college‘s theatre spaces.

Saturday Morning Workshop: 8 – 18 year olds

21st April - 21st July 2012 (no half-term, sessions every week)
£10 pay-as-you-go for 2 hour session.
A pay-as-you-go activity, £10 for a 2 hour session, for young people between the ages of 8 - 18 years (you will work with YPTW staff in appropriate age groups). Each week you can take part in any of the following: text work, devising, improvisation, physical theatre, fight training, mask work and you will have the opportunity to audition for the annual YPTW production, which this year is The Magician’s Nephew by C. S. Lewis, adapted by Glynn Robbins.
Easter and Summer Workshops
Dates for 2012:
Summer: Monday 30th July – Friday 3rd August 2012 (5 days)
These workshops are designed for young people with a keen interest in drama and cater for all students from beginners to those with some theatrical experience. Tutors trained in the arts of improvisation, mime, character, musical and technical work lead the projects. The week culminates with a performance in the Rose Theatre to which families and friends are invited. Students may be acting, operating the lights, or building scenery, but most of all they will be having fun! The fee is inclusive of all materials.
