Through classes and drama projects, students of all ages will acquire basic skills and an understanding of theatre and performance.


Workshops

Saturday morning workshop
Times: Saturdays 10.30am–12.30am
Duration: Term time only
Ages: 8–18

During a two-hour session, students will take part in movement and vocal warm-ups, drama games, improvisation and devising activities, and mask, mime and script work. Workshops are designed to be appropriate to the age of participants.

Easter and Summer workshops
Times: 9.00am–4pm
Duration: Four and five days
Ages: 8–18

These workshops are designed for young people with a keen interest in drama and cater for all students from beginners to those with some theatrical experience. Projects are led by tutors trained in the arts of improvisation, mime, character, musical and technical work. The week culminates with a performance in the Rose Theatre to which families and friends are invited. Students may be acting, operating the lights, or building scenery, but most of all they will be having fun!

Act II
Time: Thursdays 6.00pm–7.00pm
Duration: 10 weeks
Ages: 10–14

Members are encouraged to use their imagination and work with music, text, masks and mime.

Youth Theatre
Time: Thursdays 7.30pm–9.00pm
Duration: 10 weeks
Ages: 13–18

This programme covers a wide range of theatre experiences from improvisation, devising, script writing and reading. The Youth Theatre programme is innovative and exciting and is a great way to make new friends. Members also have the opportunity to see College performances during the year.

Act I
Time: Fridays 6.30pm–7.30pm
Duration: 10 weeks
Ages: Ages 7–10

The class progressively introduces children to the world of drama through games, working in small groups performing popular and classic stories.

Musical Theatre
Time: Fridays 7.30pm–9.00pm
Duration: 20 weeks (September–April)
Ages: Ages 8–18

The programme is designed to develop talent and enable members to reach their full potential. Participants enjoy singing from popular musicals and perform either a devised musical or a chosen published musical (dependent on the company) at the end of the spring term. The programme finishes with a fully mounted production in one of the College’s two theatres.
