On Saturday 12th December 2009 7:30 pm at Long Eaton's Trent College, the Friends of Derby Salvation Army will present a production of Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol". A unique occasion in that this is only the second time in the history of the brass band movement that a local Salvation Army band has appeared on stage with a mainstream brass band In addition, the event will be a first live stage production featuring brass bands and the spoken word.A new script and unique to FoDSA although, of course, based on Dickens immortal tale. Traditional festive music including old favourites and more contemporary pieces such as "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "When a Child is Born" and the Cliff Richard favourite, "Mistletoe and Wine". Those attending this concert will enjoy a truly memorable evening and radio listeners will soon be able to enjoy a foretaste of the delightful voice characterisations of Bill Varnam and his novel script. Bill Varnam trained as an Actor at the Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Perfromance and graduated in 1985 His work has included one man shows, story telling, performance poetry, children's entertainment, television and radio.
