New Vice Principal Enterprise Management joins the College
Rose Bruford College, London has appointed its first Vice Principal Enterprise Management. John Hough, a former marketing professor and business school dean at Richmond The American International University in London; founding Development Director at Eltham College London, and most recently Head of Administration at the Aga Khan University London, joins the College to spearhead new initiatives and to develop alternative revenue streams. His experience in international private education and institutional advancement will help secure the College’s plans for long-term stability and growth.
As an international educator for more than 25 years, John has had significant experience in curriculum development, quality assurance and programme marketing and delivery in the UK, USA and Ireland. He is happiest when interacting with students from a wide variety of countries and cultures and he looks forward to the opportunity to influence the curriculum at Rose Bruford College with some entrepreneurial flavour. In addition to his professorial role at Richmond University, John has been a visiting professor on both undergraduate and graduate programmes at Boston University; SUNY Oswego; the University of Wisconsin and the University of Limerick, Ireland.
As the founding Development Director at Eltham College London, John had responsibility for institutional advancement, marketing and commercial projects. The position required him to put in place an ambitious development programme to generate significant donor support for major projects over a ten year timeframe and on leaving this role, Eltham was well on the way to realising its goals in this respect.
John’s recent post at the Aga Khan University’s Institute for the Study of Muslim Cultures in London required him to oversee all aspects of finance, marketing, human resources, I.T., estates, institutional advancement, accreditation and quality assurance. In addition, John was instrumental in developing and overseeing systems and procedures for student services, residence life and academic management. After two major building refurbishment projects and campus moves in Central London, John is now more than pleased to be surrounded by considerably less concrete and a lot more greenery. He is a Member of the Association of University Administrators; a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts. Recently, he was delighted to have been made a Freeman of the City of London.
In his spare time he is the editor of The Golden Sabre Magazine, the lifestyle publication of Le Confrérie du Sabre d’Or (a Champagne appreciation society), and he is a keen traveller and walker with the ambition ultimately to spend more time in the Algarve.
