Rose Bruford signs progression agreement with Lewisham College

Rose Bruford College, London’s International Drama School,  has signed a unique progression agreement with Lewisham College.
The progression agreement will support Lewisham College drama students to move into higher education particularly onto the College’s highly regarded performance programmes. In addition, Lewisham College students will also be offered free tickets to Rose Bruford performances, free tours of the campus and the opportunity to participate in a series of acting master classes.
Principal of Lewisham College Maxine Room, who is a Governor at Rose Bruford, said: "A lot of our students are the first in their families to go onto higher education - something I can identify with, and that's why agreements like these are so important.
"I've got a real affinity with the arts, and the Drama department at Lewisham College has the highest standards I've seen at any college over the years."
Michael Earley, Principal and Chief Executive of Rose Bruford College added: "With this agreement, we're creating something distinctive and unique - this is a new type of link between a drama school and College."
Through Creative Way, and through the National Arts Learning Network, the College has built a series of progression agreements with partner colleges.  However, the agreement with Lewisham is very special as it builds on a series of relationships that have been developed over a period of time, with an investment by members of staff in the students at Lewisham.  The work is supported by research from champions at Lewisham and at Rose Bruford; by the work of student ambassadors who have worked both formally and informally to make the relationship the success it is.  The signing ceremony formalises the commitment of many people to ensuring the participation of young people from an urban background in high quality specialist education.
