This new Centre is developing research in lighting design and digital performance. The College’s Lighting Laboratories, Digital Arts Suite and flexible theatre and studio performance spaces provide first-rate facilities for such investigation. The Centre is currently monitoring and documenting The Spoils, a Simultaneous Performance Project in collaboration with Trinity College of Music and Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, funded by Knowledge East, involving the live-streaming of promenade performances of original texts and musical composition. Fellows of the College associated with the work of the Centre include David Hersey, Ralph Koltai, Durham Marenghi, Patrick Woodroffe and Paule Constable. In 2011–12 this Centre will be engaged in developing new training methodologies for the teaching of stage technology through international distance learning and onsite delivery.
