ROSE BRUFORD AT LEICESTER SQUARE THEATRE
CARMEN
By Georges Bizet
Libretto by H Meilhac & L Halévy
From the Novel by Prosper Mérimée
Directed By Iain Reekie
Designer Frans Friis
Lighting Designer Josh Pharo
Sound Designer Joshua Richardson
A new adaptation for actor musicians, relocating the play in a contemporary Urban setting. Carmen's relationships are presented against a backdrop of Inner City tension and police surveillance, in a story of sexual passions that threaten the power of The State. Bizet's memorable score is reworked in a piece of music theatre that is both immediate and provocative.
