Professor Steven Spier is Vice-Chancellor of Kingston University. A leading advocate of the economic benefits of a creative education and innovation, he originally joined the University as Dean of Kingston School of Art. Under his leadership, he enhanced its prominence as a top global provider of design and art education. During this period, he also served as the University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for Culture and Civic Engagement.
An expert in contemporary European architecture and in ballet choreography as a form of spatial organisation, Steven is widely published. His academic career has encompassed roles in Switzerland, Germany – where he was founding Vice-Chancellor of the HafenCity University in Hamburg, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Steven has sat on the boards of a number of cultural institutions and is currently treasurer of the University Alliance mission group.
