Applications are welcome from those aged 18+. Candidates will actively enjoy all aspects of practical drama work, be motivated, and enthusiastically embrace intensive work and rehearsal.
Learn about emotions and develop the ability to sense how they emerge and express through your body. Become more adept at self-regulating emotions, managing how you express them, and consciously shift from one emotion to the next.
This course is delivered over one week of intensive full-time training (30+ hours) at our Sidcup campus.

This course provides detailed information on emotion and practical exercises on a remarkable physical approach to emotion regulation. The Emotional Body™ uses the emotional effector patterns discovered in scientific research, and an instructional style informed by extensive research, somatic education theory, and more than ten years of development in emotional embodiment methods for performers, and actors of stage, TV, and film.
Participants will earn 30 hours towards the Alba certification.
Receive 30 hours of instruction on the emotional effector patterns and various somatic education methods, including supportive lessons in the Feldenkrais Method® to increase somatic sensing awareness and learning. All six emotional effector patterns will be taught, as well as neutral and step out. Participants will earn 30 hours towards Alba certifications. Actors will have the opportunity to apply the emotion lessons to text and monologue performance work.
Laura Facciponti Bond (CL5 Master Alba Emoting Instructor) is an internationally recognized master teacher, and teacher trainer, of physical emotion regulation, using the emotional effector patterns. She teaches physical emotion regulation methods in university classes, private lessons, and through regional, national, and international workshops. She studied and co-taught with one of the founding scientists of the emotional effector patterns, Susana Bloch, in the USA and in Chile where Susana Bloch resides. Since then Laura has dedicated her career to developing new methods for teaching emotional awareness and the emotional effector patterns to performers, as well as to the general public. She is a Full Professor at the University of North Carolina Asheville where she has applied the Emotional Body™ method to courses in acting, directing, expressive movement, voice production, public speaking, as well as many interdisciplinary courses and wellness workshops.
Dr Jessica Beck (CL5 Master Alba Emoting Instructor) is theatre director and somatic practitioner. She completed a practice-based PhD on the challenge of emotion in Western performance under the supervision of Phillip Zarrilli at the University of Exeter. Beck is an internationally recognized master instructor and teacher trainer of the emotional effector patterns, Alba Emoting™ and the Emotional Body™ , and is a guild certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education.
Dr Beck teaches directing at Canterbury Christ Church University and is a member of Stage Directors UK. Recent productions as both director and dramaturg include: The Masters of Mystery, music by Ethan Maltby, Lyrics by Jenna Donnelly, Book by Donnelly & Maltby (Marlowe Theatre/Canterbury Festival 2017); Agent of Influence: The Secret Life of Pamela More by Sarah Sigal (Edinburgh 2016/UK tour 2017); Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Rebecca Crookshank – Devon Performance Awards Performer of the Year 2016, and multiple award nominations including The Liberty Human Rights Arts Award 2016 and Best Director & Best Production Broadway UK Awards 2015 (Edinburgh 2015/UK Tour 2016).
