This Pulitzer Prize-nominated play revolves around the overlapping exchanges of a group of high school juniors during the pre-match warmup for their latest soccer game… The routine banter of girls confronting social pressures and existential conundrums while their minds and bodies transition into adulthood. Delappe reveals universal tragicomic truths in ordinary jock-girl existence.

Desdemona’s child comes back to the town in which they were raised, haunted by the ghost of Beautiful D, and with a desire to come to terms with trauma from their past. In this town, trouble rages, as a climate of hate threatens to overtake all.

“Before Katrina, I always felt like I could come back home. Because of the way the hurricane ripped everything away, it cast that idea in doubt.” Jesmyn Ward, American Novelist
