This September, join us for our annual season showcasing the independent directing projects of the 2023-2024 MA/MFA in Contemporary Directing Practice, led by Irina Brown (formerly the ‘Director’s Festival’).
This year we are bringing 8 new, exciting, and relevant pieces of theatre to venues in London and the world!
Amber Medway’s devised piece All the Light That Passes Through, performed at the Etcetera Theatre in Camden, kicks off the season on 12th September at 19.00.
The season continues back on campus, with 5 shows performed at our Rose and Barn Theatres.
On 17 September, catch The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter, directed by Kazeem Akinsanya at 14:30pm (open Dress Rehearsal) and 18:00 in the Barn Theatre, followed by The Warp and Weft, devised and directed by Izzy Ponsford at 16:00 (open Dress Rehearsal) and 19:30 in the Rose Theatre.
On 18 September, see Woyzeck by Georg Büchner, devised and directed by Scarlett Spicer at 14:30 (open Dress Rehearsal) and 18:00 in the Barn Theatre. Later on, don’t miss The Story by Tess Berry-Hart, directed by Jillian Feuerstein at 16:00 (open Dress Rehearsal) and 19:30 in the Rose Theatre.
Closing the Sidcup leg on 19 September will be a matinee of The Story at 14:30 in the Rose Theatre, and Rekal Incorporated (inspired by a Philip K. Dick story), adapted and directed by Neha Hemachandra at 14:30 (open Dress Rehearsal) and 18:00 in the Barn Theatre.
On 28 September, the closing showcase of the season will be Dorothy McDowell’s site-specific production of The Shadow of a Gunman by Sean O’Casey, staged in a flat in central London, with a small invited audience.
Internationally, Nikolas Krieger’s original play A Hero’s Journey will be performed in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Each performance is 40 -60 minutes long, with a short Q&A following the evening performances.
Please note that some titles are subject to change.
Tickets for all performances are free but must be booked, with the exception of Etcetera Theatre where there will be a small booking fee.
Booking will open later in August.
