About

BA European Theatre Arts presents two new devised productions as part of Alternative Dramaturgies Season, showcasing the work of final-year students.

The Masque of The Red Death, directed by Jack Kelly, assistant director Millie Bevan

Bringing Edgar Allan Poe’s chilling tale to life, the story follows Prince Prospero’s attempts to avoid a dangerous plague, known as the Red Death, by hiding in his abbey.

Esteemed friends. The Red Death ravishes our once beautiful land. From its dread clutches no one is safe. I invite those in possession of nobility, youth and beauty to join me in my castellated abbey where we might see out this pestilence in security and comfort.

You shall want for nothing. Let us quarantine ourselves from the shrieking hoards where in fine company, luxury and a smattering of debauchery we may pass the time until the land is purged and safe to inhabit once more.

Yours Sincerely HRH Prince Prospero
