About
Trifles, by Susan Glaspell
On a blustery winter evening in the midwestern American wasteland, a woman is found alone and listless in her home, her husband’s lifeless body resting in their bedroom upstairs. While a group of men combs the premises in a futile effort to resolve the deadly crime, their wives secretly uncover the clues leading to the murder.
In this innovative production created specifically for the graduating cohort of the Rose Bruford MFA in International Theatre Practice and Performance, a 1916 whodunnit is interpreted through a strikingly modern lens. This staging revisits the original play’s presciently feminist slant, prompting new questions about agency, representation, and violence in the contemporary world.
