We were delighted to welcome (back) a 50th anniversary reunion of the Class of ’65 to ‘68 on Sunday 12 July 2015.

Over 40 people, nearly the entire cohort, came back to campus to meet old friends and rekindle memories of studying at Rose Bruford College. Many of the group had not been back to the College since leaving, and were thrilled to see how the place had developed. A number of graduates had not seen one another for nearly fifty years but immediately recognised old faces and friendships.

After a small drinks reception in the Fleur Chandler Room (or the Music Room as the group remembered it) and lunch in the Bru Bar, the assembled alumni headed straight to a piano to sing songs remembered from their training, perform skits and remind each other of anecdotes and stories from their time here.

The year group were the last to complete their three years of study under Rose Bruford herself who retired as Principal in 1968.

Patty Latham, one of the instigators of the reunion said, “It was incredible to see everyone after many, many years. Though I have kept in touch with a few people, there were classmates that I haven’t seen since we left in 1968. Being back on campus bought back so many memories and made us all feel (and behave) as young as we were when we studied at Bru’s. It really was a fabulous day.”

Professor Michael Earley, Principal of the College, was in attendance and said, “It was a privilege to be part of such an enjoyable occasion, and to welcome so many of our alumni back to the College after such a long time. Their association with Rose Bruford is far longer than mine, and reminded me that the College really is one big community that stretches back to our very foundation, and hopefully long into our future.”
