First year students from the European Theatre Arts and Lighting Design programmes at Rose Bruford College presented a selection of scene works from Jean Genet’ s The Maids in collaboration with Theatre Delicatessen recently.

This fruitful collaboration between Rose Bruford College and Theatre Delicatessen enabled the participant Bruford students to engage in site-responsive parameters and environments. The students were taught for two weeks at Rose Bruford College and then worked together for one week at Theatre Delicatessen with a view to create compositional presentations that treat Genet’s textual intricacies in innovative and thoughtful ways.

Alexia Kokkali, Programme Director for European Theatre Arts said;

"The artistic ethos and principles of Theatre Delicatessen are a perfect platform for European Theatre Arts and Lighting Design students to establish links and connections with a professional environment of work and develop pioneering and inventive modes of performance presentation. This collaboration stresses collaborative, contemporary and original models of theatre making in response to the current developments in theatre practices and novel aesthetics in theatre and performance."
