Pupils from Trinity School in Belvedere had the unique opportunity to light the National Theatre as part of their prize for winning Junior Ready Steady Light 2018.

The team of six students, with the guidance of BA (Hons) Lighting Design tutor Ben Ratcliffe, designed the backdrop to the #SaveStageLighting gobo projection on the iconic building on the South Bank of the Thames.

The Save Stage Lighting campaign is highlighting the impact that European Union plans to change the rules that govern the light sources used in theatrical productions will have on the industry.

The Trinity team beat six other schools across the borough of Bexley in the annual architectural lighting design competition held on the College’s campus in March.

This year’s competition, in association with the Society of Light and Lighting, was part of an initiative from Bexley Career Cluster, to connect science and technology with creative arts and design.
