Steven Dykes, Programme Director for American Theatre Arts, spent the summer in New York performing with theatre company PTP/NYC, his fourth season with the critically acclaimed ensemble. Appearing at off-Broadway’s Atlantic Theatre Stage 2, Steven played the leading role in the world stage premiere of Howard Barker’s Pity in History. Originally written for BBC television, the play tells the story of a stone mason (Gaukroger) caught between warring factions at the height of the English Civil War. Giving a contemporary setting by director Richard Romagnoli, the production received excellent reviews:
