Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and Associated Studios have announced the launch of a unique collaborative BA (Hons) Opera Performance Studies degree that combines intensive practical opera training, delivered by world-leading opera practitioners, with on-line academic learning.

Leontine Hass, Principal and founder of Associated Studios was delighted to announce the launch, which will be the first degree run at Associated Studios in its 10-year history;

“I am so proud that Associates Studios are launching the first vocational opera degree of its kind in the UK in collaboration with Rose Bruford College.”

Niamh Dowling, Rose Bruford College Head of School of Performance says that is an example of the College being able to validate degrees that are tailored to meet the needs of students and industry partners alike, following the gaining of Taught Degree Awarding Powers;

“Associated Studios shared values and reputation for delivering world-class practical opera training, coupled with our experience over the past 20 years of delivering an online degree in opera studies, means students will have the crucial understanding of their craft in practice and theory as they prepare for a career in the industry.”

In addition to being the first degree of its kind in the field of opera it is also an example of institutions working together to find ways to make degrees more flexible and affordable for students. Leontine Hass explains;

“We have written the degree to allow an intensive two-year practice period located at Associated Studios, flanked by the on-line academic study which students can access from anywhere in the world. This means that students will only need to find two years of living expenses, instead of the usual three years.”

The three-year BA (Hons) Opera Performance Studies degree will run from Associated Studios in Hammersmith from September 2018, subject to validation. Please click here for full details.
