Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and the National Theater Institute (NTI) have launched a new three-year MA/MFA in International Theatre Practice and Performance. Validated by Rose Bruford College, the programme offers a unique global degree across three countries.

The first year takes place at Rose Bruford College in London. The second year takes place at National Theatre Institute (NTI) at Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut, USA. The third year begins with three months at Moscow Art Theatre School, Russia before returning to London for the making and performing of final work.

The postgraduate students will draw on the benefits and experience of these three leading international drama schools with a renowned reputation for delivering high-quality vocational theatre training. The programme uniquely integrates the American, British and Russian approaches to theatre training and aims to inspire the theatre and performance artists of tomorrow who are committed to the creation of their own work – whether as actors, directors or writers.

Rose Bruford College’s recent gaining of Taught Degree Awarding Powers has given the College independence to develop partnerships with internationally renowned organisations such as NTI and Moscow Art Theatre School. As a result, the collaboration has created an extraordinary opportunity for emerging artists.

Niamh Dowling, Rose Bruford College’s Head of School of Performance explains;

“NTI and Rose Bruford College staff have jointly designed a programme which takes the best of world-leading training and designing the accumulation of skills, training, locations and theatrical contexts to provide a unique, rich and profound experience that will shape international artists of the future.”

NTI Artistic Director Rachel Jett adds:

“We are thrilled to announce this absolutely unique MFA. Not only will students train at some of the world’s leading drama schools, but they will also gain invaluable cultural literacy through the travel, artists, and theatre experienced as part of this degree. Our goal is to build a truly international ensemble of theatre makers, and provide the mentorship and platform to launch them into the theatre and performance industry.”

The first first cohort of students will begin in October 2018.
