A team of Rose Bruford College BA (Hons) Lighting Design students won two of the three awards at The Society of Light and Lighting’s (SLL) national lighting design competition.

The trio of Matthew Carnazza, Jordan Tinniswood and Yann Schirrmeister were awarded the Artistic and Technical Awards for their design at the annual Ready, Steady, Light competition held at the College’s parkland campus in Sidcup, Kent.

Now in its 16th year, Ready, Steady, Light attracts industry and university  teams from around the country. Each team is allocated a site within the grounds and tasked with designing and setting up temporary exterior installations with a range of equipment, in only 180 minutes.

In addition to hosting the event, students enrolled in Rose Bruford College’s BA (Hons) Lighting Design and BA (Hons) Stage and Events Management courses managed the event and provided technical support.

The judging panel for the Technical Prize was chaired by SLL President, Richard Caple and SLL President Elect Iain Carlile, with Kevin Theobald chairing the Artistic Award on behalf of International Association of Lighting Design (IALD).

Support and equipment was provided by Philips, Lee Filters, White Light, Erco and SGM.
