Alison Mackinnon is an active specialist in voice, dialect and actor training. She joined Rose Bruford College in 1999 as Senior Lecturer in Voice and is currently the module leader for level 5 Acting and for Performance modules on the BA (Hons) Acting and BA (Hons) Actor Musicianship programmes.  She teaches poetry, voice and acting and has directed many productions of classic and contemporary plays. She is currently external examiner for the MA in Professional Voice Practice at Birmingham School of Acting and for BA Acting at EUTHECA in Rome.

Alison trained at Rose Bruford College, then worked as an actor in repertory and touring theatre until 1991, when she joined Central School of Speech and Drama as a Lecturer in Voice. She has taught voice, dialect and text work at RADA, E15 Acting school, Manchester Metropolitan University and Drama Centre London. Freelance dialect and acting coaching in film and TV has taken her to Spain, the Czech Republic, Russia, France, Italy, India and North Africa.

Alison has a keen interest in the performance of poetry and spoken word and its use in actor training, as well as reflective practice and assessment modes in creative training.
