Support for Dyslexic Students

The Study Support team at the College is here to offer support from application to graduation.

Rose Bruford is a college which specialises in the creative, the visual and the practical. These are areas in which dyslexics often excel.

Simon Hopper is the college dyslexia expert. He qualified at one of London’s oldest dyslexia institutes, is a dyslexic himself and has fifteen years’ experience of coaching students.

Simon coaches students in any area of study skills*. This includes:

  • Reading quicker
  • Taking notes in lectures
  • Understanding course briefs
  • Researching more efficiently
  • Writing better essays
  • Learning lines more easily
  • Making presentations
  • Managing time better
  • Being better organised

*Study skills help is not limited to students with dyslexia.

Students can present themselves for dyslexia screening if they think they may be dyslexic. Those considered to be dyslexic may be referred for a formal assessment with one of our panel of educational psychologists and the college is normally able to help fund this.
