Greeting our new 2020 level 4 students will be this panel of guest speakers consisting of alumni Aran Cherkez, Shaq B.Grant and Qasim Mahmood and joining them will be the founder of Black Blossoms Bolanle Tajudeen and independent film producer, Damian Jones.
Split across two days to comply with social distancing our new students will get the opportunity to hear from these experts as they start their journey into the world of theatre, design, and entertainment here at Rose Bruford College.
On Monday, October 19th our guest speakers will be:
Aran Cherkez, upon graduating from Rose Bruford College Aran has worked as a theatre director and performer and is a Junior Associate Artist at The Kings Head Theatre. Previous Directing Credits: Love and Information (Rose Bruford College), GUY: A New Musical (UK Tour/Turbine Theatre), Vanilla (The Large, Southwark Playhouse), Candyfloss (OSO Arts Centre), The Girl With Glitter In Her Eye (The Lyric Hammersmith), Medea Redux (The Barn Theatre), A Mother’s Song (The Barn Theatre), The Deep Blue Sea (Rose Bruford College). Bolanle Tajudeen founded Black Blossoms – an expanded curatorial platform showcasing contemporary Black women and non-binary artists in 2015. In 2020 Bolanle launched the Black Blossoms School of Art and Culture, an online learning platform decolonizing art education. Bolanle is also the lead tutor of Art in the Age of Black Girl Magic; an in-depth course delving into the historic and contemporary practices of Black women artists, lecturers have been delivered at Tate, Central Saint Martins and the Southbank with the course receiving national and international press.

Qasim Mahmood has worked with companies such as the RSC, National Youth Theatre and Birmingham Rep and has appeared in BBC's Doctors.

Damian Jones, his career spans over forty feature films, he has collaborated with prestige directing talent and cast to create critical and commercial films including the Oscar-winning The Iron Lady (Phyllida Lloyd), Lady In The Van (Nick Hytner), Belle (Amma Asante), Welcome to Sarajevo (Michael Winterbottom), Millions (Danny Boyle), Goodbye Christopher Robin (Simon Curtis), Sex, Drugs&Rock&Roll (Matt Whitecross), The History Boys (Nick Hytner), Dad’s Army (Oliver Parker), Kidulthood & Adulthood (Noel Clarke) and Absolutely Fabulous The Movie (Mandie Fletcher).
