2016 BA (Hons) Acting graduate Kenneth Omole has been nominated for a Best Actor award at the inaugural The Stage Debut Awards.
The awards have been introduced to recognise the best breakthrough actors and creatives in theatre and were open to anyone over the age of 16, making their professional theatre debut in the UK.
Kenneth was nominated for his role of Fanuco in Assata Taught Me at Gate Theatre.
Theatre reviewer David Ralf wrote of Kenneth's performance;
"As the student Fanuco, Kenneth Omole gives an exceptional debut performance, growing from cheeky boy to grieving adult in a single blackout, and convincingly steering the piece towards its distressing conclusion."
On hearing news of his nomination, Kenneth tweeted;
"Completely humbled and grateful for this nomination. Thank you to the whole Assata Team, and everyone who came to support!"
The winner of the category will be decided by a judging panel consisting of Natasha Tripney, Mark Shenton, Lyn Gardner, Sam Marlowe and Alistair Smith and will be announced at the ceremony on Sunday September 17, 2017.
