Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance has announced that it will be sponsoring a Total Theatre Award at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The awards, held annually at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 1997, place a special emphasis on the spaces in between established performance forms where innovative new creative practices, approaches and models are emerging.

The College, who are once again hosting productions at their Upper Church space in Summerhall, will be sponsoring one of two awards recognising Innovation, Experimentation & Playing with Form.

Clarie Middleton, Principal and CEO of Rose Bruford College said;

“We are delighted to partner Total Theatre to offer an Award for Theatre Innovation for 2019. We are totally committed to generating and celebrating new and innovative approaches to training and making theatre and performance.

This award gives us the opportunity to support like-minded national and international companies and significantly to acknowledge Total Theatre and their inspirational work in supporting alternative theatre and performance practice.”

The process for assessing and awarding artists is thorough and rigorous, offering the opportunity for artists and senior industry professionals to engage in in-depth discussion, debate, dialogue and discourse about excellence.

Each year, 25 assessors and 20 judges from the UK and international performance communities come together in Edinburgh to identify, and celebrate, excellence and evolving form in contemporary performance.

Performers at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe can register for shows to be considered for an award until 9am on Tuesday 30 July 2019 at www.totaltheatrenetwork.org
