Jake Reynolds studied MA Actor Musicianship, and graduated in 2019. We caught up with Jake and asked him to share his experiences of studying at Rose Bruford College and how his education has helped him to succeed in the industry.
What did you like most about studying at Rose Bruford College?
The vast array of people I met there and that taught us. There were so many different people from so many different backgrounds, and I felt like I was constantly being taught something new by someone.
How has your course helped you to get to where you are today?
The skills I was helped to nurture during my time at Rose Bruford have been invaluable in helping me become a better performer, both with my skills with an instrument, but also as an actor in general. I wouldn’t be where I am without the fundamentals I was taught on this course.
What has been the highlight of your career to date?
My biggest highlight has to have been Next to Normal. It’s one of my dream shows, and there was a huge part of me that wanted to do something more serious but still in the realm of musical theatre. Being able to go on for both Gabe and Henry was so special, and really proved to myself what I was capable of in terms of acting in a way that I hadn’t had before.
How have you stayed connected to Rose Bruford College since graduation?
I keep in touch with my friend Dexter who was on the course with me, and I try to talk to some others where I can. I sadly haven’t been back much, but with Covid and being quite fortunate with work, I haven’t found the time! But I would love to go back.
What would you say to a student who is thinking of applying for your course today?
Absolutely do it! The skills I learnt, developed, and honed on this course have helped me an indescribable amount. I would not be where I am now in my career without the training and nurturing I received at Rose Bruford College!
