Ray Fearon was announced as Rose Bruford College’s new President in June 2024.

He is an award-winning British actor, born and raised in London and well known for his appearances on stage and screen. After studying drama at Rose Bruford College, Ray went on to make his reputation as a stage actor, working at a large number of theatres across Britain.

He has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company in their Stratford and London theatres and on tour. He was the first black actor to play the title role in Othello in the main Royal Shakespeare theatre (director Michael Attenborough, 1999).

Ray was invited to become an Associate Artist for the RSC by artistic director Micheal Boyd.

Ray has appeared on the silver screen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (as Firenze the centaur) and in four of acclaimed James Bond director, Richard Bromley’s films including The Foreigner in 2017 when he played a character called Richard Bromley opposite Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.

He’s appeared on TV in a wide range of roles including the role of Nathan Harding in Coronation Street from 2005 to 2006 and as Mr. Hanway in His Dark Materials. In 2019, Ray played the role of Hot Misogynist in season two of the acclaimed BBC Three comedy-drama Fleabag. Most recently he has played FBI Agent Dan in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
