It is with great sadness that the College learnt of the recent passing of graduate and Fellow of the College, Helen Pringle.

Helen graduated from our Technical Theatre Arts Programme in 1989. After graduating she spent five years as a freelancer working in stage management, technical stage management and in lighting design for a range of small scale touring companies including Trestle, Half Moon, Theatre Centre, Spare Tyre, Monstrous Regiment and Quicksilver.

In 1994 Helen became Production Manager at Theatre Venture where she managed a vast number of projects ranging from schools tours to community sculpture gardens and vast site specific performances for the next seven years. In 2001 Helen joined Clean Break where she produced all of the company’s work in her capacity as Administrative Producer. In recent years she was the Head of Finance and Senior Producer.

Throughout her career Helen worked closely with the ITC (Independent Theatre Council), including contributing to stage management contract negotiations with Equity and being a member for graduates of the Fast Track scheme. In 2012 Helen was conferred as a Fellow of the College. Throughout her career, Helen remained committed to increasing access and diversity within the performing arts.

The College continues to work closely with Clean Break and has recently run a bespoke pilot Access to Higher Education course for young women associated with the theatre company, through our Outreach department. There is no greater testament to Helen’s work and ethos that a graduate from the course will be starting a BA (Hons) Stage Management degree in September 2017.

Our sincere condolences go to her family and friends.
