Undergraduate maintenance loan for living costs
Eligible UK undergraduate students can receive a maintenance loan for living costs (online studies are not eligible for maintenance loans).
The loan is paid directly into your bank account at the start of term. You have to pay the loan back when your income is over the threshold amount.
Maintenance Loan Examples 2020 to 2021 Academic Year:
- Living at home: Up to £7,747
- Living away from home, outside London: Up to £9,203
- Living away from home, in London: Up to £12,010
- You spend a year of a UK course studying abroad: Up to £10,539

Postgraduate
Full-time UK students
Eligible UK Postgraduates can apply for a student loan for your tuition fees if:
- You are a UK (‘home’) student;
- You have not already completed a course at the same level (for example another MA degree)

Full-time international students
There are currently no scholarships or bursaries available for International Postgraduate programmes.
US Federal Loans
If you are a US citizen and would like to apply for a US Federal Loans, please note that Rose Bruford College is a recognized institution and you are eligible to apply for a US Federal Loan to fund your studies with us. For further information on this, please contact [email protected].
All our courses are eligible for US Federal loans with the exception of the Foundation courses, International Theatre Practice & Performance or any courses hosted at arthaus.Berlin. If you require funding you will need to seek out private loans to support your studies.
Bursaries and scholarships
Rose Bruford College Bursary – UK Students
We will offer £600 financial support for each year of the course in the form of a bursary to all students who come from households below the median income level (£29,400). This information is provided to the student loan company who communicate it to our student services team so once confirmed you will be paid automatically in February (£300) and May (£300) if you are eligible.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to one individual who has accepted a place on our BA (Hons) Actor Musicianship programme. The scholarship generously pays all course tuition fees for the successful applicant. The fees will be paid for the full three years, with an annual review of the recipient’s progress. It is awarded on the combined basis of merit and financial need. Please note students may be means-tested for scholarship eligibility.
All applicants who accept an offer of a place on the course will be given the opportunity to apply for the scholarship and may then be asked to meet with and audition with a representative from the Foundation.
International Student Bursaries for Design and Technical Arts Programmes
Each year, we award one bursary to an international student as they commence their study on an undergraduate design or technical arts courses (courses eligible are: Design for Performance BA, Costume Production BA, Audio Production BA, Creative Lighting Control BA, Scenic Arts BA and Stage & Events Management BA). The bursaries, with a value of £2,000 each year for three years (total £6,000) are part of the College’s commitment to making high-quality professional training and education in theatre and the entertainment industries available to students from anywhere in the world.
International students, who have international student fee status and have been offered a place on a design or technical arts programme may apply for the bursary before starting their studies with us. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
Funding opportunities for Foundation programmes
Acting Foundation Programmes
Please note that our Acting Foundation and Acting for Screen Foundation programmes are not eligible to be funded by Student Finance, therefore tuition fees must be paid directly from the student to the College. The tuition cost of each programme is listed on the course pages.
As these programmes are not eligible for Student Finance we offer a number of scholarships and bursaries as well as an early bird discount that you may be able to take advantage of.
The Bernardine Evaristo Scholarship
UK and international students are able to apply for this scholarship which is the full course fee of £9,350 for our Sidcup Foundation Course only (the course offers 26+ hours of teaching and learning, five days a week). Accommodation, theatre trips living costs, and travel are not included. Please note this scholarship is offered minus a £500 non-refundable deposit.
Rose Bruford Foundation Bursaries
All of our regional Foundation Courses attract bursaries that are open to all applicants (UK and international students). The course fee for these courses is £7,475 and the courses offer 24+ hours of teaching and learning, four days a week. Bursaries of £3737.50 a year will be awarded (with a maximum of two bursaries awarded per course) to successful students on one of our Foundation courses in Edinburgh, Brighton, or Belfast. Please note these bursaries are offered minus a £500 non-refundable deposit.
Foundation Early Bird Discount
An award of £500 is available for tuition fees paid in full before 31 July.
Disability Student Allowance (DSA)
Students with a disability, specific learning difficulty (SpLD) or mental health condition can apply for additional support from Student Finance in order to help them with their course. The support can be technical including software/laptop (contribution required) or personal support such as a Specialist Mentor or a Specialist one to one study skills tutor.
