If you are studying a course longer than 6 months, you will need to apply for a Student Visa.
If you are studying a course for 6 months or less, you will need a standard visitor visa.
Some nationals can enter the UK for up to 6 months without applying for a standard visitor visa prior to entering the UK whereas others are required to apply before they travel. If you are not sure, you can check if you need a UK visa.
You will be studying close to London and have easy access to the amazing culture, restaurants and theatre there.
When you study with us, you will join students from more than 25 different countries and develop skills that could take your career all over the world. We have links worldwide with partner institutions on student and staff exchanges, collaborative projects and wider research initiatives.
International FAQs
Q. How do I apply for a Student Visa?
Once you have received your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the College, you must apply for and obtain a Student Visa before the start of your course.
You cannot enter the UK before your visa start date.
Please review our Visa Guidance page for detailed information about the visa process, required documents, and application timelines. You are responsible for submitting your visa application and informing the College of the outcome – we are not able to access or track visa applications on your behalf.
The visa process and documents required can be found here.
Q. How do I receive my CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies)?
You will receive your CAS once you have met all the conditions of your offer, including:
- Meeting the English language requirements
- Satisfying UKVI financial requirements
After reviewing your documents, the College will issue your CAS if you meet all the UKVI criteria for a Student Visa application. See our Visa Guidance page for further details.
Q. What are the English Language requirements?
If you require a Student Visa to study in the UK, you must demonstrate your English language ability through a UKVI-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT).
- Undergraduate applicants: Minimum IELTS for UKVI score of 5.5 overall, with no component below 5.5 (CEFR level B2).
- Postgraduate applicants: Minimum IELTS for UKVI score of 6.5 overall, with no component below 6.0 (CEFR level B2).
Check our Visa Guidance page for accepted tests and alternative qualifications.
Q. What is the Graduate Visa and am I eligible?
The Graduate Visa allows students who have successfully completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the UK to stay in the country for up to two years after graduation to work or look for work.
You must apply for this visa from within the UK before your Student Visa expires.
Q. How do I pay my tuition fees?
You can pay your tuition fees either in one full payment or in instalments. Please visit our Tuition Fees and Payment Options page to see available payment methods, deadlines, and international transfer details.
Q. What financial preparations should I make before arriving in the UK?
It’s important to ensure your finances are in order before you arrive.
- Student loans from your home country generally do not count as income for UKVI financial requirements.
- Have at least six months’ rent available in liquid funds (in UK currency) – landlords often require 3–6 months’ rent in advance if you don’t have a UK rental history.
- Using a guarantor service can be an alternative, but it often involves additional fees and paperwork.
- Always triple-check amounts and conversions to ensure you are working in the correct currency.
- Expect delays in administrative processes (e.g., rental agreements, background checks, banking, or visa processing). Plan ahead and allow extra time.
- Keep contingency funds available for unexpected costs or delays.
Q. What should I know about finding accommodation?
The rental process in the UK can be slower than in some other countries:
- Once you find a property you like, move quickly to secure it – demand is high.
- Completing the necessary paperwork and credit checks can take several weeks.
- Proof of address requirements vary — for example, some landlords may accept Revolut accounts, while banks may not.
Our Student Life team can provide guidance on finding housing and understanding rental contracts.
Q. What health support is available when I arrive?
All students should register with a local GP (General Practitioner) once they have a UK address.
If you become unwell before registering or before moving into permanent accommodation, you can access out-of-hours NHS GP surgeries near Sidcup or other local walk-in centres.
Our Student Life team can help you find and register with local healthcare services.
