Gareth Clough and David Manson, both students on the BA (Hons) Lighting Design, spent 2 months working for the Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria this Summer. The exchange was made possible through Erasmus funding and contacts developed by the Lighting Design programme’s European network
Both students worked as fully integrated members of the stage lighting team at one of Europe’s largest stages, the Seebuehne. Gareth and David worked alongside lighting designer Davy Cunningham and Head of Stage Susanna Boehm on a spectacular production of Mozart’s Magic Flute. The challenges of scale and weather are unique to this particular venue (which also featured in the James Bond film A Quantum of Solace), and offered a fantastic learning opportunity for the two students.
