This course is for those aged 18+

This course is for participants who want to develop ways of devising stories from raw material. The emphasis is on working with ideas and influences in your life by using personal memoir and experiences. Students will be encouraged to develop their ideas through their use of physical work, song and the spoken and written word.

Course content

This online course is for participants who wish to experiment and develop their own creative voice though their skillset and who are willing to be open, collaborative and experimental.


It may require you to work from yourself as source material, which may mean you will choose to work with sensitive personal material which will be mediated sensitively.

Tutor Profile

Topher Campbell is a performer and award-winning director. He has directed numerous plays across the country. He was artistic director of The Red Room Theatre and Film Company between 2008-2015 and has devised and curated various large-scale arts projects. Topher is also an established writer and social commentator, Independent  filmmaker and TV director. His films have been shown in festivals worldwide and his TV credits include Eastenders, Doctors and Documentaries for Channel 4.

Topher’s work also includes creating the UK’s first archive dedicated to UK Black LGBTQ history and culture.
