Chris West

Starting at his local theatre, Chris has worked in the entertainment industry’s technical side for his entire working life. After taking a gap year to work in theatre, Chris achieved his degree in technical theatre at the Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Since then, Chris has been training people on the technical side of the entertainment industry for over 25 years.

He has designed leading training programmes for some of the industry’s biggest companies, including Avolites, MA Lighting and disguise, helping them expand their business the world over. Alongside this, he has worked with and taught at many of the universities in the UK that offer technical courses, advising students and teaching them on the technology and its use in the industry.

Now working independently, many companies benefit from his extensive knowledge and experience in this field. After founding his own training company, West Training Services, Chris now supports a number of companies with their training delivery needs. Alongside this, West Training is leading the way with companies needing new training programmes to be developed and with e-learning design, from conception to implementation. He now works with venues, theatre companies, rental houses, production companies and manufacturers to deliver high quality training on light technologies, both in the UK and around the world.
