Guest speakers from a range of prestigious opera companies including the Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne Youth Opera will be joined by composers, including John Webb and Lewis Murphy, to present papers on Children’s Opera this Autumn as part of Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance’s seventh biennial international “Music On Stage” conference.

The conference brings together academia and the opera industry from around the world to present papers and cover a wide spectrum of operatic debate from historic to contemporary opera.

The College, located in Sidcup, Kent, has an established link with the opera industry through its online degrees in Opera Studies and Music Studies.

Conference founder and organiser Dr.Jane Schopf says:

“We are delighted to offer this conference, the first between academia and the industry, focusing on opera for children. It’s the ideal opportunity for those with an interest in the subject to learn and share their experiences and discuss collaboratively about how best we can present this amazing art form to the younger generation.”

In addition to the presentation of papers there will be a rare and unique opportunity for delegates to engage with the topic through a series of Round Table events igniting discussion about approaches and sharing experiences.
