About
The Bakkhai, by Euripides, translated by Anne Carson
In this production of Euripides’ The Bakkhai, through Anne Carson’s haunting translation, Scarlett Spicer and a company of collaborative theatre-makers and actor-musicians dive into a visceral exploration of female rage, pleasure, and the deep, unsettling link between spiritual awakening and patriarchal control.
Using live music and Carson’s searing text, this production unravels the myth of Dionysus: what happens when women revel beyond control? We are the ones they warned you about. A ritual. A reckoning. A riot. A collaboration between the MA/MFA in Collaborative Theatre Making and MA Actor-Musicianship.
