This is the story of a woman – an ordinary young woman, any woman. She moves through the different stages of life with great difficulty. Business, home, marriage, having a child, seeking pleasure – all are nerve nagging for her, mechanical, and none of them offer her any place or any peace. Only in an illicit love does she finally discover one thing carrying life and freedom for her. But when she loses this, her desperate efforts to regain it once more become her undoing.
