About

New Work Season comprises original plays, a song cycle, and an intermedial piece written, directed, and performed by 3rd Year students from our undergraduate Acting and Actor Musicianship programmes.

Under the guidance of BAFTA Award-Winning Writer Janys Chambers and Olivier Award-Winning Composer Darren Clark, the year group have been introduced to the creative energies and disciplines of playwriting and dramatic songwriting, leading to a selection of short plays and a playlist of original songs.

TRIPLE BILL #2 – LINES + THE BAY + TILL WE SHOP AGAIN

LINES, by Rosie Boother

The town is sleepy, the drugs are cheap, and the boredom of a school suspension is a banging excuse for Lee to mistake organised crime for opportunity. Follow Lee’s downward spiral through Morris-dancing drug deals and ketamine-fuelled tractor raves.

THE BAY, by Katie Murphy

Every year, the family returns to Robin Hood’s Bay. But this time, as Will watches the sunrise alone, something’s shifted. A secret he’s buried deep is rising with the tide—and it’s about to surface.

TILL WE SHOP AGAIN, by Benedict C Jones

When the worlds sharpest and most quick witted sixty-year-old is held at gunpoint by two apparent thugs in a corner shop, it quickly becomes clear to all involved that robbery is the least of their worries.
