What did you like most about studying at Rose Bruford College?
Rose Bruford College fosters a strong sense of community, encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing across all courses. Their unique learning environment means that students from diverse courses can collaborate and learn from each other. The institution’s commitment to ongoing professional development and long-lasting tutor-student relationships sets it apart.
How has your course helped you to get to where you are today?
I’ve always aspired to be a theatre director, but I also sought comprehensive actor training. European Theatre Arts provided the perfect platform to explore interdisciplinary performance and develop a multifaceted artistic practice. I learned to navigate the industry, build relationships, and advocate for underrepresented voices. This program empowered me to think critically, lead creatively, and pursue opportunities across various art forms including theatre, music and dance.
What has been the highlight of your career to date?
A defining moment in my career was becoming Artistic Director of Haringey Shed at 24 years old. This leadership role, coupled with my freelance directing experience across London’s West End, Fringe and regionally, has shaped me into a cultural leader dedicated to fostering emerging talent. I’m passionate about creating inclusive spaces for artists from diverse backgrounds, and I’m honored this practice has led me to becoming a Trustee for Zoo Nation: The Kate Prince Company.
My artistic journey has extended beyond theatre. As a DJ, I’ve performed at renowned venues and festivals including Glastonbury 2024, Southbank Centre, Electrowerkz, Richmix and internationally. My unique blend of contemporary house and SWANA music allows me to celebrate my cultural heritage. My time at Rose Bruford College ignited this interdisciplinary approach, leading me to work across music, dance, and theatre.
How have you stayed connected to Rose Bruford College since graduation?
My connection with Rose Bruford College has continued post-graduation. I’ve returned to direct productions, teach, and share career advice with students. The strong alumni network provides invaluable support and opportunities. Highlights of my involvement include directing for European Theatre Arts and leading a performance project for the Actor Musicianship course.
