Course content

The course consists of a central, intensive two-year practice period flanked by academic study on-line and intensive practice weekends. During the intensive practical phase of the course, students study three days per week based at Associated Studios in London.

The academic content of the course is delivered online and you are required to deliver regular assessed projects. The academic study is designed to provide a theoretical underpinning that supports your practice and covers aspects of opera as a performance art - analyzing directing styles, composition, researching libretti, understanding the social history of opera, Lieder and much more.

One of the great advantages of this course is that you will only need to find two years of living expenses, and will graduate having been put through your paces on a rigorous vocational programme, backed up by intensive academic learning crucial to your understanding of your craft in theory and practice.

As most applicants will be 18-25, great care will be taken to build your voices carefully and progressively with age and voice appropriate repertoire and in consultation with established singing teachers. The progressive accumulation of the practical component considers the needs of young voices. Apart from studying appropriate Opera scenes and arias, you will also study other recital repertoire including Lieder and Chansons.
