Emotional Body® lessons centre around the instruction of the emotional effector patterns, while using somatic education methods to help you understand how to fully embody these patterns and physically “tune into” your body using all your senses (sight, smell, taste, sound, touch, and movement). Gentle and gradually paced lessons raise your awareness of minute muscle movements, breathing patterns, and emerging feelings. Lessons are designed to connect these somatic sensing skills with the development of physical self-regulation of emotions, emotional fluency and personal expression. Learning how emotions emerge and express in and through your body is an essential element in achieving somatic self-regulation of emotion.

Emotional Body courses may also incorporate additional somatic education methods (taught by certified practitioners) like Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® lessons and Estill Voice® lessons to help individuals achieve an even deeper understanding of physical and vocal expression patterns inherent in their behaviour, and provide new choices in expression.

Click on the links below to learn more about these methods, how we utilize them in our practice, and how you could learn to cultivate your expressive capabilities and apply these new skills to your personal and professional development.

Why choose this course?

Emotional Body® courses are designed to provide you with the ability to sense, reconnect with, and physically regulate emotions. Using research-supported methods, Emotional Body instructors use gentle and gradually developed somatic sensing lessons to help you learn emotional fluency and physical emotion regulation methods. Courses are beneficial for personal and professional development purposes.

Emotional Body courses have a distinct instructional style that includes: (1) a new language of emotional effector pattern labelling, (2) low-intensity lessons when introducing the emotion patterns, (3) and somatic sensing lessons.  This course also includes lessons on recent emotion research, emotional fluency and literacy, and physical and vocal expression development. Emotional Body instructors have a clear understanding of the distinctions between, and philosophies behind, the various instructional methods used in their courses, and they clearly identify them in their practice.

Online
Due to the unpredictable circumstances caused by the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic, the Emotional Body® instructional team has created a virtual online learning environment. Our training is a tailored series of live virtual courses designed specifically for an online community. Remote sessions will provide small groups with an intimate teacher-to-student ratio learning environment when experiencing the emotional effector patterns. Larger group sessions held for discussions and Feldenkrais lessons will help promote community and sharing ideas with a cohesive group. Scheduling plans will consider maximizing opportunities for reaching as many of our international community members as possible, while also taking into consideration work-at-home situations and varying time zones.
