Steven Dykes is Programme Director of the BA (Hons) American Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College. His credits as an actor include touring with Howard Barker’s The Wrestling School, leading roles at the Young Vic, Gate and Arcola theatres and regular television work with the BBC and ITV. As a founder-member of NXT (New Cross Theatre) he has toured throughout Europe and North America in premieres of works by David Mamet, Heiner Muller, Enzo Cormann and David Bown. Most recently he appeared in New York in the American premieres of Howard Barker's ‘Victory’ and ‘The Castle’. As a playwright he has been produced professionally in New York, London, Oxford, Leeds and Edinburgh, and has created new work for Rose Bruford College's undergraduate, MA and graduate companies.
He has published on the work of David Mamet and lectured at several American universities, including the University of Wisconsin and Concordia College, Minnesota; and on New York University’s and Centre College's (Kentucky) London programmes.
